DUE POESIE SUL CHIANTI DI LEONARDO MANETTI TRADOTTE IN INGLESE DA ASSUNTA FRANCO
Il Chianti
Vecchie mura
dove le piante si arrampicano,
inebriate dal profumo dei fiori
allevati da mani generose.
Un'oasi solitaria
nel deserto della velocità,
scandisce il mutare delle stagioni
un sottofondo di musiche classiche.
Ricche tradizioni
e racconti del paesaggio
accolgono stanchi viaggiatori
con acqua limpida rinfrescante.
Scorre calmo il borro,
il letto attraversa solenne
cipressi e cordiali poggi,
sempre più torbido verso la città.
Chianti
Old
walls
where
plants hang on,
inebriated
by the perfume of the flowers
cultivated
by benevolent hands.
A
lonely oasis
in
the desert of high speed
marks
the changing of the seasons;
classical
music in the background.
Copious
traditions
and
stories of the landscape
welcome
fatigued travellers
with
some limpid and cool water.
The
Borro river quietly flows
and
soberly traverses the riverbed,
cypresses
and affable small hills,
cloudier
and cloudier approaching the town.
Iris pallida
Il colore è
violetta
come il suo
profumo,
in gergo è
giaggiolo.
Sonnecchia
nell'inverno
fiori a maggio
rizomi a luglio.
E' una cartolina
in fioritura,
al suo levar
è fatica con la
zappa.
Sulle stuoie sta
ad asciugare,
bianco se mondato
nero se affettato.
Pale Iris
The
colour is violet
like
its perfume;
in
jargon it is 'orris'.
Snoozing
in Winter
flowers
on May
rhizomes
on July.
It
is a flowered postcard;
at
its raise
it's
time for hoe labour.
On
mattings it dries off,
white
if cleaned
black
if sliced.
